The Bees Knees Bistro: Website Re-Design.

I enjoy frequenting a local restaurant called The Bees Knees Bistro, and highly enjoy its ambiance. When I visited their website for the first time, I felt that it did not encapsulate the correct energy, and did not draw my attention effectively. So, I re-designed and prototyped a new website with the same general hierarchy and information stylized in a new way. I created the website in both desktop and mobile views.

The first step of re-designing a website is to evaluate what currently does or does not work about the existing site.

The original website can be found here:
https://www.beeskneesbistro.net

My evaluation of the website can be found by clicking the following button:

The following step of developing the re-design was creating user personas for the business. Being a local restaurant, I decided to create the personas of average civilians I may see around my town; these came to be marketing assistant Sandra Days and car salesman Ralph Simmons. More information about Ralph is featured below.

Since I did not want to take away from the current website’s existing pages, I did not change the current userflow to a degree that was necessary to recreate, so I moved forward with designing the wireframes of my own design. The corresponding desktop and mobile pages are featured next to each other for ease of identification.

I used these wireframes as an outline for my designs, not an exact copy. If I made changes while designing, I did not reflect the changes back onto the wireframes since they were merely a guideline.
